Roger Freeman recently performed the first flight on his Fokker DR-1 replica at Kingsbury, Texas.
Remember, this thing is built right to the original plans so it is top heavy, has no brakes, and there is no directional steering beyond that small rudder. I was there when he did the first taxi tests. Things went better than expected, so he lined up on the runway and let it accelerate until the tail lifted. He then cut power and brought the tail down. As soon as the tail touched down it went into a gentle RH ground loop that left my heart in my mouth. The only damage was a cracked wingtip skid and tail skid. After this test, you can imagine where everyone was on the first flight.
