1941 Piper J3 CUB
With less than 300 hours on a complete rebuild (Engine and Airframe), this little cub is going to make someone a neat little airplane. It's cute as a button, mechanically sound and ready to fly. The airplane qualifies as Light Sport, so for those currently without a pilots license, obtaining a license to fly it is a lot easier !
Like nearly all Cubs built in 1941, this airplane actively participated in the War effort by being used as a CPT trainer. It's been upgraded to an 85 Horsepower Continental engine, McCauley Metal prop and modern Cleveland disc brakes. The airplane has no electrical system, but we are in the process of adding an electric starter and rechargeable battery to eliminate hand propping.
We operate 2 Cubs almost identical to this one, and we purchased this one solely for the raffle. We looked long and hard to find a clean airplane that will make the new owner proud and provide years of fun and enjoyment with a minimum of ongoing maintenance.
The winner does not need to be present at the drawing and has an option of $25,000. cash instead of the airplane. Winner is responsible for any taxes due at the time of the award. Void where prohibited by law. As a 501c(3) Non-Profit organization, the Texas Barnstorming Museum is allowed to conduct Raffles for the purposes of fundraising. Open to US residents only. The airplane is flown and maintained according to FAA and manufacturers recommendations, so the accumulated airframe and engine time might increase slightly. Raffle ends 5/12/2024 or the sale of all 3500 tickets, whichever comes first.
Details of aircraft: 1941 Piper J3 C-65, SN7890, N41025, 5900 Hrs TT since new. Logs begin in 1947. 267 since restoration in 2/2001. Ceconite fabric finished with Butyrate. Continental C85-12 Engine, 267 since overhaul by Custom Airmotive of Tulsa in 2001 New Cyls and Mags at OH. Carb Overhauled. McCauley 1B90 prop, new at engine overhaul. Cleveland disc brakes, 12 gallon Aux tank in wing, 800x6 tires, Univair sealed struts, External Com antenna. Fresh annual, engine mount rubbers and bungees upon award.
