David Rose of La Jolla, California is a four-time Champion at the annual Reno Air Races. He and "Rags," the racer that he designed and built, won the Gold in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003 in the "Sport/Biplane" Class. David attributes his design to clocked speeds of 225.651 mph and 226.919 mph. His record-breaking speed won him the prestigious Pulitzer for Aviation Achievement, awarded March 2003 in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Institute.
Now David is building a new racer, dubbed "Renegade," which he designed to compete in the "Unlimited" Class at the 2004 Reno Air Races. Knowing David, anything short of winning the "Gold" by beating out the 507mph speed record of Skip Holm in "Dago Red" would be a disappointment to him!
David is seeking sponsorship for his Unlimited racer. Note that the 2003 Reno National Championship Air Races enjoyed paid attendance of well over 200,000, plus all the TV and print coverage world wide! If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, contact David Rose now. Sponsorship funds would contribute toward spare engines and logistic support.
Will David Rose win the Gold in the "Unlimited" Class at Reno in September 2005? Check back and find out!
